Enterprise Connectivity

Satellite, metro ethernet, MPLS, SD-WAN, managed services, and more. For organizations that need more than broadband. Available nationwide.

Satellite Connectivity

VSAT Internet — Anywhere in Nigeria

When fiber and wireless cannot reach your location, satellite delivers. Dotmac provides VSAT connectivity using geostationary satellites across three frequency bands, each suited to different needs and environments.

We are a NigComSat Gold Partner, reselling Nigerian sovereign satellite capacity alongside capacity from international satellite operators. This gives us flexibility to design the right solution for your location, budget, and reliability requirements.

Coverage: Anywhere in Nigeria with a clear line of sight to the sky. No terrestrial infrastructure needed.

Coming soon: LEO satellite offerings (Starlink, Amazon Kuiper) — lower latency, higher throughput, smaller equipment. We are preparing to add these to our portfolio as they become available in Nigeria.

VSAT satellite dish installation

Use cases

Remote oil and gas sites. Rural bank branches. Government MDAs outside fiber coverage. Mining operations. Agricultural estates. Disaster recovery backup. Maritime and offshore platforms. Any location where terrestrial connectivity is unavailable or unreliable.

Satellite frequency bands explained

Each band has different characteristics. The right choice depends on your location, weather conditions, speed requirements, and budget.

Ka-Band

High Throughput

Dish size: 75cm to 1.2m (small)
Speed: Highest throughput per Hz
Rain fade: Most susceptible — signal degrades significantly in heavy rain
Best for: Bandwidth-hungry sites in regions with moderate rainfall. High-speed backup links. Temporary deployments.

Limitation: Heavy rain in Southern Nigeria can cause outages lasting minutes to hours. Not recommended as sole link for mission-critical operations in high-rainfall zones.

Ku-Band

General Purpose

Dish size: 1.2m to 1.8m (medium)
Speed: Moderate throughput
Rain fade: Moderate — noticeable in heavy storms but recovers quickly
Best for: Most common VSAT band. General business connectivity. Reliable primary or backup link. Good balance of cost, speed, and weather resilience.

Limitation: Throughput per Hz is lower than Ka-band, so higher bandwidth plans cost more.

C-Band

Enterprise Grade

Dish size: 2.4m to 3.8m (large)
Speed: Lower throughput per Hz
Rain fade: Minimal — virtually immune to rain
Best for: Mission-critical always-on connectivity. Banks, government, military, oil and gas. Sites that cannot tolerate any weather-related downtime.

Limitation: Large dish footprint, higher equipment cost, complex installation. Lower bandwidth per dollar compared to Ka/Ku. Requires roof or ground space for the dish.

All satellite limitations

Latency: Geostationary satellites orbit at 36,000km. Signal round-trip takes approximately 600ms. This is noticeable on video calls and makes real-time gaming impractical. VoIP works but with slight delay. LEO satellites (coming soon) will reduce this to ~30ms.

Weather: All bands experience some rain fade, with Ka being worst and C-band being best. We design link budgets with rain margin to minimize outages.

Shared bandwidth: Most VSAT plans are contended (shared). Dedicated satellite bandwidth is available but expensive.

Installation: Requires professional installation (dish alignment, commissioning). Typically 5-10 business days.

Metro Ethernet

City-wide private fiber connectivity

Metro Ethernet connects your offices, data centers, and facilities across Abuja or Lagos on a private Layer 2 network over fiber. It is not internet — it is a direct, private connection between your sites with guaranteed bandwidth and low latency.

We deploy metro ethernet on our own fiber infrastructure and through partnership with other fiber operators, giving us extensive reach across both cities.

Bandwidth: Scalable from 10 Mbps to 10 Gbps depending on the fiber route and equipment.
Available in: Abuja and Lagos metro areas.

Metro fiber deployment

Use cases

Connecting headquarters to branch offices. Data center interconnect. Campus networking (university, hospital, government compound). Connecting to internet exchange points. Extending your LAN across the city.

What you get

Point-to-point Layer 2 Ethernet. Guaranteed symmetric bandwidth. Low latency (<5ms within city). SLA with uptime guarantee. 24/7 monitoring. Scalable — increase bandwidth without changing the physical link.

MPLS VPN

Multi-site private WAN

MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) creates a private wide-area network connecting your offices across Nigeria. Unlike internet-based VPNs, MPLS traffic never touches the public internet — it travels on a private, managed backbone with guaranteed quality of service.

We deliver MPLS through partnerships with national backbone providers, giving you nationwide reach with centralized management.

QoS (Quality of Service): Traffic prioritization ensures voice calls get priority over email, video gets priority over file downloads. Critical applications always have the bandwidth they need.
Topology: Hub-and-spoke (branches connect to HQ) or full mesh (every site connects to every other site).
Available: Nationwide, wherever our partners have backbone presence.

Network infrastructure

Use cases

Banks with many branch locations. Government agencies with offices across states. Retail chains with POS systems. Companies running centralized ERP or CRM. Healthcare networks connecting hospitals and clinics. Any organization needing guaranteed private connectivity between multiple sites.

MPLS vs SD-WAN

MPLS is more reliable and predictable but more expensive. SD-WAN can run over cheaper internet links with intelligent routing but depends on the quality of those underlying links. Many organizations are transitioning from MPLS to SD-WAN, or running both. We can help you decide.

SD-WAN

Software-defined networking

SD-WAN (Software-Defined Wide Area Network) intelligently routes traffic across multiple links — fiber, wireless, satellite, even cellular — choosing the best path for each application in real time. If one link fails, traffic automatically shifts to another.

SD-WAN gives you MPLS-like performance at a fraction of the cost by using cheaper internet links with smart software overlay. Critical applications (VoIP, ERP) get priority; bulk traffic (updates, backups) uses whatever bandwidth is available.

Central management: Configure and monitor all sites from a single dashboard. Deploy new branches in hours instead of weeks.
Available: Anywhere we can deliver at least two connectivity links.

SD-WAN connected office

Use cases

Organizations transitioning from MPLS to reduce costs. Multi-link resilience (fiber + wireless + satellite). Cloud-first businesses needing direct access to SaaS applications. Remote offices that need reliable connectivity over imperfect links. Disaster recovery with automatic failover.

How it works in practice

We install an SD-WAN appliance at each site. Each site has 2+ internet links (e.g. fiber primary + wireless backup). The SD-WAN controller monitors link quality in real time and routes each application over the best available path. If your fiber goes down at 2am, your wireless takes over instantly — no human intervention needed.
